What is Education & Training?
Education and training Programmes are run in our Centres, in partner Centres our we can assist you in gaining access and funding support to mainstream Education and Training Programmes.
I have no interest in education!
Whilst this is understandable considering many Survivors experience or lack of education as children while resident in one of the institutions, we encourage all Surviors look past the typical stereotype of education. We have run successful practical classes in Woodwork, Poetry, Literacy, Computers, Jewellery Making & Pottery. We even ran a class in Archery previously. We look at your wants and match them accordingly.
Where is this available?
Education & Training Programmes are available in all our Centres through our links with Local Agencies (contact details can be found below), however we have a specific partner within our team who can directly assist you if you live in the Cork Region;
Mr. Pat Sheehan, works exclusively with Adults who were in the Industrial Schools and their relatives and is a member of staff of the Cork Education & Training Board. If you want any help for yourself or any of your relatives finding a course or advice on a course, or on funding and fees, a good place to start would be to contact Pat Sheehan (ETB Education Facilitator) to make an appointment to see him. The appointment can take place in the ETB offices in Lavitt’s Quay, in the Right of Place offices on the Lower Glanmire Road or at a more convenient location for you.
Contact Pat the following ways:
Phone Right of Place offices: 1890 200709 and leave a message.
