At Right of Place Second Chance we are working hard to provide a safe, respectful and supportive space for survivors of institutional abuse and their families. We are trying to ensure the difficulties survivors face in their everyday lives as a result of their childhood trauma, perpetrated by the state and religious, is acknowledged, understood and responded to.

We try to support as many survivors and their family members as we can and encourage any person who needs support, information or advise to simply contact us.

As you will see from the information below, which includes January 2018 – December 2019, we continue to be a valuable resource for survivors and their families.

This continues to grow, as more people access our services on a daily basis.

Over 390 individual people visited.

We visit survivors in their homes, in prisons, in hospitals. Wherever they need us, we are there.

Friendly Call Back

Over 2,000 calls made.

Over 50 individual people receiving a weekly call.

For those on this system, they don’t feel alone. We offer a weekly call of support from us to them.

Accessing Drop-In

Over 1,800 times people have dropped-in.

Whilst only provided in Waterford, has become an integral part of the service we provide.

A total of 3 documents produced with survivors voice.

We believe in being an authentic voice. Listening to survivors and sharing their views.

Transitional apartments

Over 16 individuals passed through apartments with 10 individuals who currently living in them.

Whilst only provided in Cork, we keep our apartments full at all times and ensure survivors have a priority.
