Social Programmes

What is it?

Social activities is an ongoing programme of events where you can connect with other survivors and have a bit of time to enjoy outings and events.

Why do we run them?

Social activities have been proved to mitigate against abuse related stress in survivors of institutional abuse and most importantly, recent research suggests that over 85% of Survivors rated social activites as important to their future wellbeing.

What kind of Activities?

The activities we run are usually designed with our client input, but some of the events have been involved in and run;

  • Archery
  • Bowling
  • Hill Walking
  • Fishing
  • Boat Cruise (on the river Suir, not the French Riviera unfortunately)
  • Movie Day
  • Coffee Mornings
  • Golf day
  • Breakfast club
  • VIP tours

These are just an example of some of the events.

How often do you run them?

Unfortunately as the demand is high and the resources low for this service we do operate a waiting list to be involved in one of our programmes.
We operate it on a first come first served basis with any individual who hasn’t been involved taking priority over ones who have already been involved throughout the year.
The only way of finding out the details of any planned or to register your interest is to click the contact us section below and speak to one of your local reps who can inform you of the details.

Where are they run?

Generally Social activities are designed in each local area with roughly one or two a year that are National in nature.
As a result we work with our local clients to ascertain the types of Social activities they are interested in.

Achievements

Between January 2018 – December 2019 Right of Place Second Chance ran over 20 events, held predominantly in Cork & Waterford. These events were very successful and attended by over 400 Individual Survivors, from across Ireland.
