Reading the minutes of the meeting with Minister R Quinn I notice you are still dealing with the same groups that over the last 10 years have received over 50 million between them . these same people have lined their own pockets and no one has been made responceable for all this money It was the same people who were running the Educate fund. Are these same people going to be allowed to waste this new money . I feel I have every Right to have my say As I am the only survivour mentioned in the Ryans ReportOnly one outreach worker gave me any help that was Phyllis Morgan and most of the info I gotabout rhe redress board was from M Waters
Please don’t let this happen again. why does one of the leaders want all the offices closed in England . We were abused just Like the people in Ireland
Mary Henderson
Mary Many of the Group Leaders where vehemently against the Statutory Trust Fund. What I would like to know is why they appear to have changed their mind?

My name is James Penrose.I shall be seventy in a few weeks time, and believe you me I was well qualified to make a contribution which went unheeded to this illegal process which was enacted a few weeks ago.I am not a survivor of child abuse I am a non survivor because I am still living daily with the effects of having been mentaly and physically abused by the irish state for 12years in the 40s and50s. I really take umbrage at the state for establishing a trust fund with monies that does not belong to it and also to have the audacity not to consult the survivors to whom the monies belong. Why are we being still trod into ground?. Regarding the proposed continuous education and welfare needs of the survivors whom I might add are also in their autumnal years is this some kind of joke, all we want is themoney which rightfully belongs to us The last thing we want is to go cap in hand to some lady bountiful. The state had the opportunity to educate the children they placed into the care of of the religious orders, instead we were enslaved and abused.WOULD THE STATE NOT CONSIDER THAT A DEFINING FAILING ON ITS BEHALF, CAN IT PUT APRICE ON THAT,JUST GIE US WHAT BELONGS TO US. WE ARE SICK TO DEATH OF LISTENING TO ALOAD OF SANCTIMONIOUS HOGWASH.another thing I would like to say,is every time I read the sentence in relation to the address board proving fair andreasonable awardsto victims I want to throw up.which planet do these people live on, after promising us payouts in line with high court awards we ended up with insulting and derisory amounts,it is downright disgusting and most of the victims I have met agree with me ,does that not in itself speak volumes. The only people who came out on top in that farce were the LEECHES who misrepresented us in front of the board.THE ONLY SPECIFIC NEED FACING SURVIVORS IS MONEY TO CUSHION THEIR REMAINING YEARS,ITS THEIR MONEY NOT THE STATES If the state was so concerned about survivors needs why di d they not consult them?. YOU CAN REST ASSURED THEIR THOUGHTS WOULD BE THE SAME AS MINE Kind regards James Penrose
Hi mary,
First and foremost you are most correct, your comments are not only wanted but welcomed.
One of the many reasons for the establishment of this website was the ability for Survivors to communicate directly with Right Of Place and therefore have a say and a greater understanding of what it is that we do.
We feel strongly regarding this. I would also suggsest if there is any information that you require or assistance, you can call any of our offices and we will help you in any way that we can.
To Rob,
I agree, on a personal note the above information and response from many was upsetting to say the least, however I hope you took from the Minutes that Right Of Place spoke freely about their members wishes and expressed how each of our members were against the Statutory Trust Fund.
Finally, remember any decision / discussion will be placed on this website that Right of Place will have regarding anything that affects Survivors
Bellow is what Group Leaders have Publicly said!
The Alliance Support Group, established in 1999, believes that any extra money from the religious orders should be “used solely to benefit former residents of all of the institutions for medical, dental and other welfare purposes.”
Campaigner Christine Buckley, who was a former resident of Goldenbridge Orphanage, is calling for any donation to be split among victims.
”The awards are just laughable, they are totally unjust. The whole system is unjust. It is behind closed walls, there is a code of silence, and there is punishment if you reveal your award. ”It is a complete continuation of institutional abuse in another format.”
John Kelly, of Survivors of Child Abuse (SOCA), is also keen that victims should be given more money. ”It is time this injustice stopped. Survivors must be consulted and we want an independent process and to see that every case is revisited by a new special board,” Mr Kelly said.

A trust fund that may distribute further compensation to victims or grants for educational purposes has been proposed. This has been rejected by some victims who are demanding cash instead.

Bellow is an extract of Unanswered Correspondence I Sent to Enda Kenny on the Subjuct
The Previous Government stated that this Trust Fund had the Backing of Leaders of Survivors Groups.

Mr *****
We both want the following
1. No to a Trust
2. Victims to receive all the money not one fifth
3. Victims to make their own decisions

Michael O’Brien and Tom Hayes Position
Email Received from Michael O’Brien 17th November 2010
“Right to Peace have, and still continue to
fight, for all monies giving to the Goverment must be shared amongest the
survivors as a matter of fact, I, Tom Hayes, and Christy, are meeting
with members of Dail eireann tomorrow the18th Nov 2010 to call on them, and
asking them to call the goverment to give all monies to the survivors,
and that is only one of many meetings that I have arranged. So it is
unfair to say I am not working for survivors. Michael O Brien”
Michael Walsh “Right of Place”
Incidentially, you dont need our 1750 members to sign. In all our meetings when we canvassed this issue they indicated that they are against this trust fund in principle therefore you have the majority of our members demand that this trust fund be rejected in its present form, so in fact, you have an additional 1750 votes with my signiture!
On behalf of Right of Place Second Chance we wish you continued success.
As a survivor if I can be of assistence in the promotion of issues that support survivors then I will.

Hi Rob,
Thank you as always for your comments and your information. We believe it is only through the shared experience and knowledge can q true understanding come of Survivors needs and wants.
I hope you can see from the above information, one of the few organisations who stated to the minister that they were categorically against the trust fund was Right Of Place. We also stated from our meetings that an overwhelming majority of our members were against it, and this is hilighted within the minutes itself.
The reason we put the information up us to ensure that Survivors have access to this material to show to them again that we will only represent their views. As for other comments left by other Groups / representatives , it is not for us to comment, but for the person who is reading to interperet what they wish from it.
In summarising I hope you understand that our chairmans signature on the petition was not a hollow one, it was very much meant as can be seen from our response to the minister.
